Established Sports Training Program Builds Digital Audience

Background – QB Country, a sports-based business headquartered in Mobile, Alabama trains middle school, high school, college and NFL quarterbacks, focusing on proper footwork, throwing and body mechanics, as well as the mental and physical aspects of playing the hardest position in sports.

QB Country is led by former SEC Ole Miss Quarterback, David Morris (Four-year letterman, 1998-2002). At Ole Miss, Morris was coached by three of the most respected quarterback coaches in football: Noel Mazzone (Current Offensive Coordinator at UCLA), well known for his training of NFL QBs; David Cutcliff (Current Duke Head Coach) who was Petyon Manning’s Offensive Coordinator at Tennessee and Eli Mannings coach at Ole Miss; and Kurt Roper, current Florida Offensive Coordinater and QB coach. At Ole Miss, David was a four-year travel roommate and 2nd string quarterback to the first pick of the 2004 NFL Draft and two-time Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning. Combining his wealth of quarterback education learned from the coached mentioned above, coupled with his own experience of playing the position, Morris felt compelled to offer this advance and specific training to QBs who dream of playing at a higher level.

During the very early stages of business, David contacted the Fallston Group seeking leadership and guidance in the areas of top-line growth, customer experience and digital audience branding. After traveling to Mobile and fully understanding the mission, vision and values of QB Country, the Fallston Group developed and executed a plan to facilitate QB Country’s growth.

Strategy & Results – The Fallston Group provided advice and structured a customer service strategy that would not only promote the credentials and results of the business, but engaged stakeholders on a year-round basis. One of the key components of growth, outside of focusing on student and facility expansion, was the implentation of a digital strategy that created the e-community QB country needed. The Fallston Group also advised QB Country on geographic expansion to be certain an “ops in a box” model was maintained while not diminishing the critical quality control elements that must continue to be maintained. Other business advice revolved around growth, hiring, business modeling, customer experience, marketing, sales and budgeting.

Interestingly, the Fallston Group created and released QB Country’s first monthly eNewsletter in November 2013. QB Country’s targeted subscriber base has increased by more than 350 percent; growth continues through camp and subscription websites. Additionally, the newsletter’s analytics are well above industry average for sports and recreation-type newsletters in every major category, with an open rate more than tripling the industry average and a click rate more than doubling the average. QB Country maintains a strong digital presence since engaging the Fallston Group, and continues to grow rapidly each month.
